Points of Interest in San Marino
The Old Mill – El Molino ViejoThe current owners drew inspiration from El Molino Viejo while redoing their property, trying to create a place of serenity, beauty and timelessness. Completed about 1816 as a grist mill for Mission San Gabriel, The Old Mill is the oldest commercial building in Southern California. Inside, the California Art Club maintains a gallery where outstanding paintings are displayed for sale. Outside of the Mill is an attractive, well maintained garden highlighting native California trees and plants. The centerpiece of the garden is the Pomegranate Patio where many civic, educational, and organizational events are held during the Spring and Summer months. This patio is the home of the California Philharmonic Chamber music concerts each Summer.
Lacy Park
Casa de Los Robles is located a short distance to Lacy Park, a beautiful 30 acre park located in the center of San Marino. Originally Wilson Lake in 1875, the land was purchased by the City in 1925 and dedicated as a park. Within the park are open green areas, many varieties of trees and shrubs, a picnic area ideal for musical concerts and civic events, and two walking loops. There are six championship tennis courts and a pro shop in the park that are administered by the San Marino Tennis Foundation. The Rose Arbor is 60 years old and has long been a source of beauty and tranquility to many residents.
